Hey guys.. Looks like Russia launched a new model of their booster rocket last Monday (Nov 8, 2004) with some "unspecified space apparatus". These guys sure know how to spice up a report with words like that considering they got delayed twice. The launch date got postponed from October 29th till this Monday because they had to correct some software flaws. Hats off for my buddies in comp eng. (Just kidding..)

This is a new and modernized version of the Soyuz rocket. For those who don't know, this has been in the works with the Soviet and Russian space program since the 1960s. According to what Interfax is saying, the rocket has more power and also is equipped with an updated digital control system. The word is that they've got a deal going on with the European Space Agency to use this rocket later (in about 2006) for commercial space launches from the Kourou launch pad in French Guiana. Lets see how that's gonna come along.

Hey everybody.. how's everything. I'm really excited about a new idea I'm trying to get started on. Guess what it is! A NEW ONLINE STORE!

This will be the second company that I'm gonna be a founder of. The idea is to sell some items from a warehouse in states through the site and also on ebay. I have made a deal with them and hopefully get some really good deals.

Soon I'm going to start selling some items that I get from Sri Lanka as well. I'm planning to get some really nice collectibles and accessories to start with and then move on to other interesting items. My friend Dulith has a site, infact the leading site of this kind, called kapruka where he sells Sri Lankan items. They are wonderful! He has a wide variety of things ranging from CDs to bouquets to gift baskets to even car rentals. Check it out.

If you have any ideas or suggestions, pleast post them here. Your feedback is really valuable. And if you are interested in helping out, let me know as well. I don't mind getting a bunch of people involved. This might take a bit of an effort in the beginning.. and there's nothing better than a friend's help.

The weekend is finally here. I have no idea why I'm so happy because I'm just gonna be working on all the assignments, labs and term papers anyway.. Hopefully I'll get some time to work on my site a bit more.

Anyhow.. when I was looking through my past emails, I found something VERY shocking! Lemme show you what I mean.

What kind of a ridiculous stupidity is this? I mean.. I'm a huge fan of comedy. But this is plainly crossing the line. It's one thing to crack a joke or two about a religion.. and it's a totally different thing to abuse a religion like this.

As buddhists, we don't worship statues, but it is still quite a disturbing sight to see our religous leader treated this way. I am sure others feel the same way about this as I do. Please feel free to leave your comments here. We should stop these wannabe directors and writers from producing crap like this in the future!

sigh... what's more relaxing than sipping coffee after another screwed up test. OH well.. at least it's over now.

Anyhow... who cares... Halo 2 is out!!! Woohoo. Check it out at Gamespot. It's awsome!

On a different note, I learnt from Marcus (A good friend/coworker/game maniac) that ABC is a pretty good bittorrent client. I still have to test it out... Lemme know what you guys think.

The weekend had come to an end again. Oh well... its not like the weekend was much of a break anyway. Working on an Enginneering term paper, studying for a computational methods test is not my type of a break.. sigh.

Enough compalining. The weekend wasn't really a complete waste. I actually finally got through to learning the whole deal about how the stock market (in depth) work. I guess I'm getting overly excited about the fact that I'm gonna be getting my laptop soon (My $4000.00 Alienware laptop :) ). There's something about laptops that get people to go towards dealing with stocks. Hmm...

Oh.. speaking of laptops, I was busy fixing one this weekend was as well. It was Aisha's.. a friend a co-worker from my workplace (CNS). It was quite a stubborn laptop filled with all sorts of lovely viruses (or virii.. whatever you prefer) and spywhere. After 3 hours of struggling.. now its finally cleaned up. I'm actually writing this from that laptop.. after I did a final check on it.

Yup.. I guess that's about it for now. For all of you who are computer game fans.. here's a tip for ya. Go to the Alienware website and sign up for their newsletter (provide a real email address). After you confirm the subscription, they will send you a code that you can use to get a 90 day free trial at Gamespot. (You will need to give the credit card number.. but dont' worry.. you won't get billed as long as you cancel within the 90 days). What's so great about that you ask? Here's the thing. Once you are done with your subscription, just unsubscribe from the alienware newsletter and subscribe again. And voila.. you got your 90 days again :) ... Have fun!!!
